The Institute of Change Management Africa (ICMA) is a pioneering force dedicated to the development and promotion of Change Management (CM) in Africa. Our mission is to empower African leaders, organizations, and governments to navigate and succeed in transformative initiatives across the continent, ensuring that Africa meets its ambitious goals outlined in the Africa 2063 Agenda, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and South Africa’s National Development Plan 2030 (NDP 2030).
ICMA is established as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and Voluntary Association with a continental reach, providing critical Change Management services, training, and resources. With a presence across Sub-Saharan Africa, ICMA is uniquely positioned to equip Africa’s current and future leaders with the tools necessary to achieve sustainable change, growth, and development.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Sean Madliwa, Founder and CEO of the Institute of Change Management Africa (ICMA) is a transformative leader dedicated to advancing change across the African continent. With close to 2 decades of experience in leadership development and organisational transformation, Sean has established himself as a leading authority in Change Management. His recognition as a Top Change Management Voice by LinkedIn underscores his influence and commitment to impactful change.
Sean is a visionary leader whose leadership style is shaped and influenced by Ubuntu, the African philosophy of unity and collective humanity. This guiding principle drives his approach to cultivating collaboration and inclusivity. His educational background includes a National Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management Systems, complemented by Leadership and Management Development Programmes and Global Certifications as a Prosci® Certified Change Management Professional, Gallup Global Strengths Coach, EdTech Specialist, Transformational Leadership Coach, and Certified DEIB Facilitator.
With a proven track record in Change Leadership, Sean’s extensive career includes influential roles across retail banking, FMCG, ICT, and educational technology. He has led teams and driven strategic growth at ABSA Bank, South African Breweries, and British American Tobacco. In 2014, he founded LeadingAndChange, a consultancy specialising in leadership and organisational transformation. His work has consistently empowered organisations to achieve their full potential.
At Deloitte Africa, he further cemented his reputation as Chief of Staff for Deloitte Operate by leading Audit & Assurance transformation initiatives across Africa, focusing on human capital and business development. His achievements include successful product launches, digital transformations, and cultural change initiatives, particularly in the wake of COVID-19.
